Audi have done it again - the wonderful R8

February 2nd, 2010

“The slowest car we have ever built”.

The fabulous clever little strapline and the carefully thought-out advert were what I really noticed when I heard this car had been released, when everyone was tallking about it. I was sat on the couch watching something boring when the ad came on during the break, and it was more interesting than the programme itself. It wasn’t difficult - it just had to drive past and I was hooked.

I ended up being one of a large crowd of people who fell in love with the R8. In fact, everwhere I went for months was full of stories talking about this new car. They may have been writing all over the web, but everyone was talking about the same thing - how gorgeous it is. The sleek lines and good looks of the R8 seem to ensure that everyone likes it, without fail.

Whether thin or fat, an Audi will always be pretty. They really promote the idea of themselves as energetic cars, and the visual from their adverts of the cars rushing up to the screen like bulls has always stuck around. As one of thier most popular cars, the TT started the trend for good looking cars, and got even better in the new version. It was only one step up to create the wonderful car we see before us.

The Audi R8 looks stunning. With a low to the ground build and aerodynamic grooves running down the sides, this just looks like it should go incredibly fast. Going further, the deep grooves accentuate the contrast between light and shadow, and it is perhaps this that makes the car so clearly a supercar. I know I am biased, but I think this shape could win prizes for its looks, against some really strong competitors - and nothing less than 1st place will do. As if this smart sleek car isn’t enough, Auid are coming around for a second go, this time releasing the Audi R8 Spyder.

To be honest, the impressive V10 engine is actually just an added bonus when faced with such brilliant good looks. No matter what the stats and specifications actually say, it is the car in real life that tells you everything you could ever want to.

Impressively, if you want to own a used Audi R8 rather than an expensive new one, the cost is quite dramatically reduced. £65k isn’t just a random figure plucked from the air - I have actually found R8s in various locations that cost about this much. That initial spend is a lot lower than perhaps you would have thought, meaning that more people can buy it than would have been expected. Whilst we can all aspire to owning one of these, most of us can’t even afford that price, so will have to opt for a used Audi at the moment!
