The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is Awesome
The Escalade Hybrid is the perfect vehicle for consumers that want to go green and still get the luxury of a Cadillac SUV,. Maximum seating capacity in the Hybrid is 8. It is the only full luxxury SUV with a two mode hybrid system on the market. Due to its 2 mode hyrbrid powertrain, the Escalade Hybrid recieves 50 percent better fuel efficiency in city driving and 40 percent increase overall.
The Cadillac Escalade’s two-mode hybrid system combines GM’s Vortec 6.0 liter V-8 engine with Cadillac’s new Auto Trans. The Automatic transmission is also powered by two electric motors that make it a true hybrid. The V8 has GM’s Active Fuel Management system, which shuts down four cylinders under light load conditions to conserve fuel.The gasoline engine shuts off at stops or when idoling but restarts when needed, while the electric motor allows the engine to run in a 4 cylider mode more often.
With light throttle, the electric motors can propel the New Cadillac Escalade up to 30 mph, but together the electric motor and gasoline engine produce 332 hp and 367lb.ft. of torque.The electric motors, electric steering system, and the electric air conditioning compresser are all powered by a 300 volt battery pack located under the second row seats. Regenerative braking will charge the batteries. Two or four wheel drive options are available for the Hybrid.The hybrid powertrain does not come in any other trim but the standard length Escalade.
As far as towing capability, the new Cadillac Escalade will be rated to tow up to 6000 pounds with rear wheel drive and 5700 pounds with all wheel drive. On the inside, the Escalade Hybrid has an 8-inch touch screen that showcases the hybrid drive system and informs the driver as to which mode the SUV is running in. To maximize fuel economy, the Escalade Hybrid comes equipped with a monitoring economy gauge.The Escalade hybrid also has an Auto Stop reader on the RPM gauge to let drivers know when the gas engine is off.
