Vehicles Banned From City Centres

July 19th, 2009

As we already know the government are always looking for ways to clean up pollution that is caused throughout the globe and within the last few years they have started clamping down on vehicles. We all know that vehicles are one of the worst polluting machines of all, and this is specifically why we the government have introduced a car scrappage scheme. This is too get the old technology off of the road and replace it with the new.

But the USA have gone a bit further and stopped any cars from the streets of Times Square, the move is set to last a whole year as authorities look to cut pollution and make big cities a much nicer place to live. As well as that I also feel that another benefit that will come from this all will be that people will become a huge amount healthier. The world is currently suffering with obesity and this is simply because no one gets any exercise anymore. But with effectively eliminating the use of cars folk will begin walking a lot more and not breathing in unhealthy car fumes.

So should vehicles really be banned from busy city centres? Well as we have already noticed there is a vast amount of beneficial factors, but for some folk there may be a lot of negative ones, an example of this is delivery drivers and cabs, how will shops get their deliveries on time if no one is allowed to access or stop out side the shops? And could taxi drivers actually end up losing a lot of customers simply by not being able to pick them up?

Whichever way you take a glance at this scenario there is likely to be a lot of good and bad aspects equally in their own rights.
